A K-12 Licensed Educator
As a professional educator with two decades of experience, I enjoy working with students of all ages. I have presented my work at the Utah Music Educator's Conference, the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City's Professional Educator's Conference, and at various schools and organizations throughout the country. Seeing my students realize their musical goals and dreams is not only my number one priority, but my life's work. Whatever your percussion-related goals may be, I would love to help you accomplish them.

Concert Percussion
From four-mallet marimba to snare drum, orchestral percussion to solo performance. I have worked with students in a wide variety of situations. If you are preparing for high school or college auditions, solo and ensemble festival, or just want to hone your craft, I would be happy to help you find the skills and confidence you need to be successful.
Drumset
Drumset is the most popular percussion instrument in the world and my first love as a percussionist. My drumset students work on developing rhythmic independence, time-keeping, and building their musical vocabulary. Styles commonly studied include all varieties of rock and jazz, as well as Brazilian and Caribbean grooves. I also help students to purchase, setup, tune or repair their personal instruments so they can feel confident that both they and their instrument are reaching their full potential.
World Percussion
The world of percussion is larger than perhaps that of any other instrument. My students have studied Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, Middle-Eastern, West-African, Indian, and Native American percussion to name just a few. I believe that traditional instruments must be approached with respect and sensitivity, and students study culture and traditional songs along with techniques and styles.
Marching Percussion
I have worked with successful drumlines and front ensembles for over twenty years and can help you prepare for whatever audition or performance you have your sights set on. My students have won spots on drumlines at the University of Utah, the University of Notre Dame, and the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps to name a few.
Clinics and Masterclasses
I have presented my research and performances throughout the country for organizations like The Hartt School, the University of Florida, the Utah Music Educator's Conference, and for several state and region clinics. Topics presented range from orchestral accessory instruments and audition tips, to multitrack video editing and adapting folkloric musics to drumset. Specialty areas include the music of Brazil, especially pagode, samba batucada, and forró, as well as the guitar music of Heitor Villa-Lobos.
